Hagar el-Ghorab
The rocky outcrop protruding toward the river was a natural landmark for those who traveled along the Nile. It was used as a watch place and ended up covered with many drawings and inscriptions dating from prehistory to recent times. It also became a burial ground during the Ptolemaic period (c. 300-30 BCE).
Many rock drawings are dated to the Predynastic and Early Dynastic periods (c. 3700-2700 BCE). They mainly include animals and boats (n. 2-3). An extended scene (n. 4) represents a nautical procession with human figures performing some rituals.
Most of the rock inscriptions are placed on a large boulder at the bottom of the cliff. A New Kingdom inscription (n. 5) shows a man wearing clothes typical of the Ramesside period (c.1300-1200 BCE) who kneels in adoration in front of the hippopotamus goddess Taweret.

بشكل أساسي رسومات لحيوانات وقوارب (N 2-3). كما يوجد مشهد مطول (رقم 4) يمثل موكبًا بحريًا مع في وجود وجوه بشرية تؤدي بعض الطقوس.
وُضعت معظم النقوش الصخرية على صخرة كبيرة أسفل الجرف. كما يظهر نقش من الدولة الحديثة (رقم 5) يصور رجلاً يرتدي ملابس تقليدية من فترة الرعامسة (حوالي 1300-1200 قبل الميلاد) ويركع في وضع عبادة أمام المعبودة تاورت.
